Wild Greens and Leeks, Shallot Greens, Rhubarb, Asparagus, Garlic Chives, Oregano, Thyme, Mint, and Sage are available. Don’t forget the Maple Syrup!

Our fresh spring mix of wild greens includes: dandelions, violets, strawberry leaves, wild carrot, clover, and alfalfa. It’s a wonderful way to add nutrients and flavour to your usual salad. Wild greens have the benefit of growing in soil that has been enriched through years of naturally occurring organic matter and contain even more beneficial microbes than organic vegetables grown in a garden.

Maple Syrup and Wild Leeks

With the 2016 Maple Syrup season complete we finally have a chance to catch up on our almost forgotten website …

 

The syrup season began early and we expected it to end quickly because of the above average temperatures all winter. But March cooled off a little and things slowed down until the end of the month when the sap started to flow like a river! We heard someone call it a “sap tsunami” and that is the best description. We were unable to keep up with the volume despite spending 48 hours at the evaporator non stop. We now have a good supply of maple syrup to take us into 2017.

This spring has been usually cool and dry so our wild edibles are coming up slowly. We do have Wild Leeks at this time and will soon be looking for Fiddleheads, Dandelions, Violets, Clover, Alfalfal and Wild Carrot.
